New home: 14 homeless children rescued last week

He said they had been found picking food from garbage dumps and begging

As many as 14 homeless children were taken in by Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) from various parts of Faisalabad last week, Child Protection Officer Ali Abid Naqvi said on Friday.


Talking to The Express Tribune, he said most children had been rescued from Lorry Adda, Millat Road, Gulberg Road, Railway Station, Railway Road, Kutchery Bazaar, Agriculture University and Sargodha Road.

He said they had been found picking food from garbage dumps and begging.

He said the children had been housed at the CPWB where 41 children were already looked after. He said these children were being provided healthcare, education, vocational training and recreational facilities. He said the government had ensured a programme for homeless children and had set up centres for their lodging. He said some were returned home after their parents were found.
