Following the call of Peshawar District Bar Association and Peshawar High Court Bar Association, the city’s lawyers went on strike against the alleged manhandling of their colleague at the hands of the police. All court proceedings were boycotted on Monday.
Talking to the media, PDBA General Secretary Muhammad Saeed Khan demanded the government initiate an enquiry against the officials concerned and register FIRs.

Dozens of hearings that were fixed with benches of the Peshawar High Court and lower courts were adjourned. The strike was announced during a meeting of the aforementioned lawyer consortiums in a joint meeting on Saturday.
In a statement issued by the PDBA and PHCBA, lawyers said their colleague Faqirullah Awan was allegedly manhandled at Paharipura police station when he went there for some personal work on Thursday. They urged the government to take SHO Paharipura to task for the unwarranted treatment.
