A World Bank team held a meeting with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) officials on Saturday to discuss potential sub-reform areas for the third phase of the Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme.


According to a press release, the meeting was attended by WB’s Senior Education Specialist Scherezad Latif, Ali Insari, Ayesha Khan, Ali Inam, Hira Sarfraz, PEF Managing Director Aneela Salman, Director Maliha Batool and representatives of some PEF partner NGOs.


The officials discussed various aspects of public-private partnership model of the foundation.

The participants stated that the free schooling model was quite useful in meeting the educational needs of economically deprived communities in the Punjab.

The participants said that the PEF was pioneering design and implementation of free educational programmes. The meeting was informed that the PEF targetted to enroll 2.8 million out-of-school and dropout children by 2018.
