Negligence: Residents protest against FESCO over child’s electrocution

The protestors gathered at the office of Jaranwala XEN and raised slogans against the FESCO subdivision staff.

Scores of residents of Alvi Park, Jaranwala, on Saturday staged a protest demonstration against the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) alleging that negligence of one of its workers had led to the death of a boy at home.


The protesters gathered outside Alvi Park near Pathan Chowk and blocked the intersection for traffic.

Talking to newsmen, Amjad Ali, one of the protestors, said seven-year-old Hasnain Amin was washing his hands from an electric water pump when he received an electric shock. He said the boy died on the shot.

The protestors chanted slogans against FESCO authorities and held the responsible for the incident.

They demanded compensation for the bereaved family and action against the negligent FESCO employees.

The protestors gathered at the office of Jaranwala XEN and raised slogans against the FESCO subdivision staff.

The XEN met the protesters and assured them that the matter would be investigated. The protesters dispersed on his assurance.

FESCO Chief Executive Rasheed Aslam took notice of the matter and issued directives for submission of inquiry report of the incident within 24 hours.

A FESCO spokesman said a two-member inquiry committee had been constituted under the supervision of the chief engineer (operations).
