Another u-turn? Indian minister insists Dawood Ibrahim in Pakistan, vows to bring him back

Rajnath Singh says they will do everything to get Dawood back, including pressurising Pakistan.

Just days after the Indian Minister of State for Home Haribhai Chaudhury had told Lok Sabha that India was not aware of Dawood Ibrahim's whereabouts , the alleged mastermind of 1993 Mumbai blasts, another claimed on Monday that he has credible information that Dawood is in Pakistan.

Contradicting the statement given by Chaudhry on the floor of Parliament, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh claimed on Monday that Dawood was still in Pakistan and pledged to bring him back to India “no matter what.”

Singh said the Indian government will not rest until they get Dawood back. "Whether we have to pursue Pakistan or put pressure, we will not rest until we get Dawood Ibrahim back."

Maintaining its long held stance, Pakistani High Commissioner in New Delhi Abdul Basit refuted Indian allegations, saying that “He (Dawood) is not in Pakistan.”

Last week, while responding to a BJP MP’s question regarding the extradition of Dawood, Haribhai Chaudhury had said, "The subject has not been located so far. Extradition process with regard to Dawood Ibrahim would be initiated once the subject is located."
