Nipping it in the bud: Anti-dengue fumigation from Monday

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration will begin a week-long fumigation campaign in the city’s rural areas from Monday as part of efforts to stem the spread of dengue.
In-charge dengue surveillance cell Dr Najeeb Durrani said that 11 anti-dengue spray and fumigation teams have been constituted for carrying out anti-mosquito spray and sampling of larva under the supervision of the district health department.
The campaign will focus on community mobilisation, sampling and fumigation, and elimination of breeding places.
The health department has also trained the participants of anti-dengue teams in a training session held here on Sunday.
Durrani further said that teams of the revenue department, local government and rural development, and union councils will also assist health department teams during the drive. Besides, 300 lady health workers will go door-to-door in the rural areas to educate the community about dengue and preventive measures.
Durrani appealed to the public to do its part by keeping their homes and surroundings clean.
