ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has urged the prime minister and all provincial chief ministers to include constitutional history as a compulsory subject in educational institutions. Senator Rabbani, in separate letters written to Premier Nawaz Sharif and the provincial chief ministers, has asked them to take steps to incorporate constitutional history of the country in the curriculum of all federal and provincial educational institutions up to the intermediate level. According to a statement issued by the Senate Secretariat on Saturday, the decision was taken after discussions during the April 13 Senate session, wherein parliamentary leaders and members agreed to make constitutional history a compulsory subject to inculcate an understanding of the Constitution among the younger generation. Earlier this month, the upper house of parliament recommended the government change the name of the Senate to the House of Federation.
