FAST NaSCon: Proving your scientific, technological skills

Event aims to provide platform to entrepreneurs in the field of technological advancement.

ISLAMABAD:
A three-day annual NaSCon kicked off at the FAST National University on Friday to provide the participants from across the country a platform to showcase their skills and talent in the field of science and technology.

The event aims to provide a platform for the young entrepreneurs to progress and grow in this era of scientific and technological advancement.

The event includes various competitions related to engineering and computer science to help solve a dilemma many students face while pursuing a field of their interest, said a press release issued here.

A theme is prepared each year for the NaSCon to indulge participants in healthy debates that could potentially provide solutions to issues that the country is facing. The theme for NaSCon 2015 stresses three aspects — economic, environmental and social sustainability.


This year’s event would include computer science, engineering, social and sports categories.

Similarly, over 1,500 students from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Islamic International University Islamabad, Iqra University, NUST, FAST Lahore, Institute of Space Tecnology, Punjab University, and COMSATS were participating in the event.

Some of the categories include Robo Sprint, Robothon, Battle of Bots, Scavenger Hunt, Mobile App Development, Speed Programming, Ideathon, Quad Mania, Business Plan Competition, NaSCon Model United Nation and Standup Comedy and Mushaira. About Rs 1.5 million worth of prizes will be distributed among the participants at the end of the event.

Last year, the LUMS was awarded the winner’s trophy for taking lead in most of the of events while the FAST Lahore was declared runner-up of the NaSCon 2014.
