Parho Punjab Barho Punjab: Mashhood Khan visits ‘adopted’ school
Promises students free story books and a trip to the zoo.

Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said the government was committed to providing sufficient resources to provide quality education in schools across the province. The minister “adopted” the Government Middle School, Sikandria Colony, Bund Road on Thursday.
“The government’s initiative under which parliamentarians will adopt schools will have a lasting impact on the quality of education in the province,” he said. The minister was addressing Lahore Education EDO Pervaiz Akhtar; representatives of the UK’s Department for International Development and the UNICEF; and students and teachers at a ceremony held at the school.
Speaking to students, Khan said talented hardworking students were the key to a bright future for the country.
The minister visited all classrooms and quizzed students on the course matter. He promised them free story books and a trip to the Lahore Zoo.
He also took note of errors in course books and said strict action would be taken against those responsible for the negligence.
Government officials and elected representatives will adopt schools under the government’s initiative Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab.
Khan said Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, too, had adopted a school which he would visit soon. He said that the government was taking several steps to achieve the goal. These include training teachers and ensuring provision of missing facilities at government schools.
“School enrolment has increased significantly under the Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab initiative.
The performance of schools will also improve once parliamentarians adopt it.”
