BAHAWALPUR:

A man killed his brother and his niece and turned himself in on Thursday.

A police spokesman said Iqbal, a resident of Tibba Badar Sher, had eloped with his brother Amir Khan’s daughter last week and went to Rawalpindi. He said on Wednesday Iqbal’s father Juma and Khan had asked them to return to Bahawalpur. He said when they arrived, Iqbal’s eldest brother Anwar shot them. They died on the spot. Anwar then went to a police check post in Satellite Town and turned himself in. He also handed over the murder weapon. Anwar told police that Iqbal and his niece had disgraced the family.

He said he could not stand the sight of them. He said he did not regret killing them.

The family refused to pursue legal action against Anwar.

They also declined the post mortem examination. On being informed, DSP Chaudhry Shafqat Atta and Baghdadul Jadeed SHO Azeem Bhatti took custody of the bodies and started investigation.
