The Afghan delegation is led by newly-elected president, Sayyer Zaland, and information secretary Mashal Zerak, while the delegates from Bahrain are headed by president of Bahrain Sports Media Committee and Assistant General Secretary of Asian Sports Press Union (ASPU), Muhammad Qasim.
Afghan sports journalists briefed president Qasim and members of Bahrain Sports Media Committee about their problems and efforts for promotion of sports activities in war-devastated Afghanistan.
The Afghan Sports Writers Federation President Zaland told Qasim that in the recent past sports journalists have been increasing in Afghanistan because the country has been performing well at an international level. He said for the first time in cricket world cup history, the Afghan team beat Scotland this year.
Zaland urged the ASPU to provide training opportunities to young Afghan sports writers as they need help from international unions. Qasim promised the Afghan delegation of support and said they would soon be invited to Bahrain.
