Maldives president to visit Pakistan this week

A number of documents on cooperation in health, education, illicit drugs trafficking and sports expected to be signed

ISLAMABAD: Maldives President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom will visit Pakistan for two days this week, between May 6-7, with discussions on drug trafficking high on the agenda.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Gayoom is arriving on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He is also expected to meet with President Mamnoon Hussain, who will hold a state banquet in his honour.

During the visit, Pakistan and Maldives will review important aspects of their bilateral relations, and a number of documents on cooperation in health, education, illicit drugs, narcotic trafficking and sports are expected to be signed.
