ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday rejected a petition filed against Pakistan Television (PTV) for signing an accord with China in order to digitise its terrestrial network.

The court remarked that IHC has no jurisdiction to hear a petition against any other state and would not create any hurdle in completion of national building projects, according to a press statement issued by PTV.

During the proceedings, petitioner Tahir Mehmood argued that the system is being given in shape of a loan, however, PTV’s counsel informed the court that this is a grant in aid by the Chinese government and would enhance friendly relations between the people of two countries.

The petitioner was also fined Rs100,000.
