The first phase: LNG for fertiliser and energy sectors
Another LNG terminal at Port Qasim will be constructed by SSGC before the end of 2016
ISLAMABAD:
In the first phase, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) would be used for fertiliser and power generation sectors and can be used later by others, said an official of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources. “The first LNG terminal was completed in the shortest period. That proves the government’s commitment towards overcoming the energy crisis,” he said. He further informed that another LNG terminal at Port Qasim will be constructed by SSGC before the end of 2016. A third terminal will be constructed at Gwadar with a 711-kilometre pipeline and tenders have already been called for this purpose. He said in order to make the price of LNG attractive for CNG users, the government has approved of not imposing any Gas Infrastructure Development Cess.
