VIDEO: Drone footage shows the destruction of Nepal's heritage sites by the earthquake

Rescue officials say more than 4,000 people are now known to have died in Nepal

Nepalese residents walk beside buildings severely damaged by an earthquake on Kathmandu on April 26, 2015. Rescuers in Nepal searched frantically for survivors of a quake that killed more than 2,000, digging through rubble in the devastated capital Kathmandu and airlifting victims of an avalanche at Everest base camp. Days after a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale hit Nepal, new drone footage shows the extent of damage to Nepal's historical sites.

Kishore Rana, an expat-Nepali who lives in Florida, US, has shared videos taken from his drone camera on his Facebook account.

The footage reveals the extent of destruction caused by the massive earthquake not only to human lives and other infrastructure but also to heritage sites including Baktapur, Patan Durbar Square and Khatmandu Darbar Square and others, some of which were on UNESCO World Heritage list.
