ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), while submitting a reply to PML-Q’s allegations against Retuning Officers (RO’s) of rigging during the last general elections, has told the constituted inquiry commission that the record regarding the transfers of lower judiciary before general elections is not available with the ECP.

PML-Q through its counsel Dr Khalid Ranjha has alleged before the commission that there were mass transfers of the lower judiciary before the elections with a design that they would control the electoral process in the future as ROs.

In response to the allegation, the ECP submitted that the record of transfer is not available with the ECP. However, the commission insisted that the record of such transfers on its own will not prove the allegation of any large scale malpractice by ROs.

“On an overall basis the results of the general elections of 2013 at the national as well as provincial level were a true and fair reflection of the mandate given by the electorate”, says the reply.
