Candidates contesting for Walton Cantonment’s Ward 3 seat have vowed to address problems of sanitation and sewerage and set-up water filtration plants in the area. The ward comprises Charar Pind, Keer Pind and several localities of Defence Phase 1. PTI candidate Faisal Saud Bhatti says sewerage is one of the major problems he plans to address. “Water filtration plants are also needed. I plan to give Charar Pind a major face-lift,” he says. PML-N candidate Muhammad Azam Bhatti says the area has been neglected due to a shortage of development funds. He says he will resolve the issues of water supply, sewerage and pavement of streets. He says he will start several development projects in the ward, especially Charar Pind. “The girls’ high school in the village also requires funds,” he says. Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) candidate Muhammad Barkat says the two villages are in desperate need of development. “It’s time for people to take matters in their own hands. This is my area. I am going to fight for my people and our rights,” he says.
