Joining forces: JUI-F to support ANP in cantt elections

The decision was taken at a meeting between the parties at a local hotel in the city on Sunday

PESHAWAR:
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl has decided to support Awami National Party candidates in elections for cantonment board seats in all wards. The decision was taken at a meeting between the parties at a local hotel in the city on Sunday. Former Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa minister and ANP provincial vice president Syed Aqeel Shah and JUI-F district ameer Maulana Khairul Bashar made the announcement at a press conference after the meeting. Shah said JUI-F announced its unconditional support for ANP candidates in the upcoming cantonment board elections. He was also concerned that the K-P government might rig the polls. The ANP leader appealed to the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of developmental works, saying they should be banned during an election campaign. “Some parties are trying to alter public opinion by force in the cantonment,” Shah claimed. He demanded that cantonment elections be conducted under judicial supervision.
