Rally fallout: Hurriyet leader under house arrest

Indian authorities put veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani once again under house arrest on Thursday evening, a day before he was scheduled to lead a protest march to Tral town of Pulwama district, according to media reports. According to KMS Police have been deployed around the residence of Gilani and a police vehicle stands blocking the main entrance gate of the pro-freedom leader’s home in Hyderpora. Meanwhile, the Indian police also raided the house of the senior Hurriyet leader Masarat Alam Butt. A day after Pakistani flags were waved at Alam’s rally in Srinagar, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed called it “unacceptable” and something illegal, which will not be tolerated.
