PESHAWAR:

Civil society and human rights organisations have urged prompt enactment of the Minorities Properties Protection Bill in order to secure properties and retrieve them from land grabbers.

Organised by South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP-Pk), a meeting titled ‘Religious Freedom and Minority Rights’ was held at a local hotel with Civil Society Organisations (CSO) and Alliance.

Among the prominent attendees were All Pakistan Hindu Rights Movement (APHRM) Chairman Haroon Sarabdiyal, Christian activist Augustin Jacob, Bishan Lal Sunil, Muqsood Salfi, Arif Saeed, Robina Masih, Shahida Shah and Saman Ara of SAP.

Condemning the publication of a defamatory item in an Urdu magazine against Hinduism, participants raised concern over the publication and termed it an attempt to incite violence. They demanded stern action against the writer, including a trial in a military court.
