Health watchdog: IMU to keep track of employee performance
CM inaugurates unit, announces promotions and pay rise for health officials
PESHAWAR:
Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has inaugurated the Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU) to keep tabs on health facilities and the performance of department employees.
According to a statement issued on Friday, the CM also announced promotions of various employees belonging to different grades between BPS-1 and BPS-14. Khattak also said the salaries of officials from BPS-17 and above will be doubled.
The unit has been set up to ensure quality health service delivery by surveying public sector hospitals across the province. A sum of Rs478.9 million has been allocated for the three-year project, with 175 monitoring officers hired through the National Testing Service.
IMU will operate through a dashboard mechanism wherein data from every nook and corner of K-P will be made available to high-ups of the health department, the notification added.
“Increasing salaries and putting a monitoring system in place will by and large increase the efficiency of the government machinery and minimise corruption,” the handout quoted Khattak as saying.
Over 1,600 state-owned health facilities with 63,000 employees exist in K-P. Khattak said action will be taken against all health officials who do not abide by the biometric system of attendance. Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, Minister for Education Atif Khan, secretary health Mushtaq Jadoon and others also spoke on the occasion.
