Bad blood: Police volunteer kills mother over property

A police volunteer allegedly shot and killed his mother over some property dispute in Bhowana police area on Sunday.


The Bhowana SHO told The Express Tribune that Ilyas Dhidduana, a resident of Chak Pul Dillowala, had volunteered with Islamabad police.


He said he had asked his 50-year-old mother Sattan Bibi for his share of inheritance.

He said Dhidduana’s father, his wife and his paternal uncle had approached Bibi several times about the issue. He said the family had had several arguments the over inheritance.

He said last week Bibi had reprimanded Ilyas’ wife on demanding his share.

He said on Sunday, Ilyas shot his mother. She died on the spot. The SHO said a team from Bhowana police station had taken the body in custody and sent it to the morgue for autopsy. He said police had also arrested the suspect and had formed a team to investigate the case. He said teams would also include his wife, father and uncle in the investigation.
