Visiting World Bank Vice President (South Asian Region) Annette Dixon, while talking to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday, demonstrated similarity of views over the issue of poverty.
“We share with you the common vision of alleviating and eliminating poverty, and bringing prosperity to Pakistan,” she said, adding the support to the country in its efforts for economic development would continue.
She had in-depth exchange of views with the minister on progress on the World Bank-funded projects and appreciated the headway made in different spheres.
The finance minister, while giving an overview of the state of economy, said Pakistan had completed six reviews with the IMF, made a successful return to the world financial market through Eurobonds, launched Sukuk and met the criteria to be eligible for IBRD economic packages.
All the important economic indicators were positive, he said and added that was the result of the strict economic reforms agenda that the government had followed since assuming responsibilities in 2013.
