Journalists protest against info secretary

The demonstration lasted for almost six hours

Scores of journalists held a protest demonstration in front of the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday. They demanded the sacking of the information secretary and progress on some promises the prime minister had made for the welfare of journalists.


The demonstration lasted for almost six hours after which Government Spokesperson Zaeem Qadri held negotiations with the protesters at 7-Club Road and assured them that the government would address their concerns in a week’s time. Lahore Press Club president Arshad Ansari said Information Secretary Momin Agha had created hurdles in the development of Journalists’ Colony and providing health insurance to journalists among other welfare projects.

He said Qadri had promised to address their issues in a week’s time.

He said they would continue to protest if their demands were not met.
