Cantonment boards: Candidates file nomination papers for Abbottabad, Havelian

Not a single woman filed nomination papers for a general seat.

A total of 58 candidates filed their nomination papers by closing hours on Tuesday for the upcoming elections for five seats of Abbottabad and two of Havelian cantonment boards, said official sources.

According to the list of candidates issued from the office of Chief Executive Officer of Abbottabad Cantonment Board, who has been appointed returning officer for the cantonment board elections, not a single woman filed nomination papers for a general seat for the two cantonment boards by the closing time, 3pm.


According to the ward-wise breakup, seven candidates have filed papers for the single seat of ward number one, nine for ward number two, eight for ward number three, 13 for ward number four and 11 for ward number five of the Abbottabad cantonment board. Ten candidates have filed papers for the two wards of Havelian cantonment board.

According to the CEO of Havelian Cantonment Board, Rana Khawar, the elected members will elect a woman and a minority member for each of the two boards after the first round of election. As per the election schedule, the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from April 2 to 4, allotment of symbols on April 11 and elections on April 25.
