Swift execution: Four convicted murderes hanged

Four death-row prisoners in different jails of the country were executed Wednesday morning. However, the hangings of three other convicts were halted after submission of their complainants’ written statements.


Two death-row prisoners, Hafiz Jaleel Morejo and Abdul Razzaq Chohan were executed in Central Prison Sukkur early Wednesday morning.


Hafiz Jaleel Morejo was charged with murdering his uncle Mohammad Haroon Morejo in 1997, while Abdul Razzaq Chohan had killed a minor boy, Aftab Mirani, owing to the enmity with his father in 2004.


Moreover, Ghulam Yaseen was executed in Bahawalpur’s New Model Central Jail for the rape and murder of a woman.


However, in the same jail, two convicts, Khadim Hussain and Loonay Khan, escape gallows after the families of the victims forgave them.


In Sahiwal, a convict named Shehbaz, who had murdered Asim Baig over a property dispute, was executed.  In another case execution of  Jaffar was stayed on a written statement of the complainant.
