Here’s a list of a few stars who are currently missing-in-action in the entertainment industry:
Nadia Khan
Dubbed the “Oprah Winfrey” of Pakistan by a local newspaper, Nadia Khan started her career hosting a children’s show in 1993. Luck followed her and she soon found herself working with big Television channels like ARY Digital and Geo. However, “what goes up must come down”, her fame, although not short lived, went spiraling down in 2010 when one of the guests on her show Nadia Khan Show filed a case against her. From the luxury life in Dubai, she soon found herself running away from UAE and hiding from the media. The last we saw of the famous host was in 2013 when she hosted her last episode of evening show, Nadia Khan Show.
Maya Khan
“Ap ka nikkahnama kahan hai?”; sound familiar? The 'vigil-aunty', Maya Khan had youngsters in Pakistan fuming with rage when the ARY morning show host went on mission 'Unmarried Couples Clean Sweep' in the parks of Karachi. The episode went viral but not in Maya Khan’s favor, the public demanded an apology from the TV show host which she refused to give and what followed was the end of yet another morning show. She made a small comeback in 2013 as a host of a Ramadan transmission but since then we’ve lost her again.
Taher Shah
Lately, we haven't been seeing "eye-to-eye", and that upsets us. Bagging a gold medal and 3 world records, Taher Shah left us hypnotized as his song became a hit worldwide and won him the POP Sensation Singer Award in Google searches. The record artist was in the limelight when he released his debut song, Eye-to-Eye in 2013. But since the hype died down, his "spectrum" and "sensual" eyes have been missing-in-action. Maybe he's busy working on another anatomy of the body, ah, that's probably it. See you in 15 years Taher, can't wait to hear what you'll come up with next!
Sadia Imam
With a record number of dramas under her belt, Sadia Imam is widely known for her serials such as Colony 52, Bilqees Kaur & Humse Juda Na Hona, among many others. The model-turned-actress was in the limelight during the '90s, dominating television screens all over Pakistan. However she left the industry after rumour of her tying the knot with Adnan Haider was confirmed, much to the despair of many. Following her marriage in 2013, Sadia quit showbiz and is now a full-time housewife. The once reigning drama queen is now busy with her first born.
Aaminah Haq
The face of Lux and a long time show host of Lux Style Ki Duniya, this diva made quite a name for herself in the entertainment industry. Her hit serials like Mehndi & Chaandni Raatein proved that she was not just a pretty face. But Aaminah didn’t stop there, she went on to act in music videos and earned her right in the industry. However, after her marriage to celebrity designer Ammar Belal in 2009, she gave up her stardom and currently resides in London with her family.
Alishba Yousuf
This VJ-turned-actress is the eldest of the three celebrity sisters; Palwasha & Syra Yousuf Khan (who is married to Shehroz Sabzwari). Starting her career with Aag TV as a VJ, she was soon signed to do commercials for brands like Mobilink and Fair & Lovely. In 2009, Alishba married Rayyan Durrani (he appeared in Season One of Master Chef Pakistan) and continued her acting career. In fact, she went on to work on a number of telefilms and starred in a few hit dramas. However 2013 was the end of the road for Alishba as she signed her last contract with Urdu 1 for drama Sargoshi. The actress has since left showbiz and just welcomed a newborn.
Bilal Khan
This young pop singer rose to fame when his hit song Bachana took Youtube by storm. Still a student back then, Bilal quickly found himself signing contracts and moving up the ladder of success. Grabbing awards on his way, this star moved to the US in 2013 and tied the knot in 2014. His last song, Do Gharhee released in 2013, since then he's been missing-in-action in the music industry. Till his return we can only listen to Tou Kya Hua and hope he comes to our rescue soon.
