Rangers arrest key suspect involved in Zahra Shahid's murder

Hussain was shot dead outside her house in DHA on May 17, 2013, on the eve of re-polling in the NA-250 constituency

KARACHI: Rangers on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a key suspect involved in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zahra Shahid Hussain's murder, Express News reported.

Rangers conducted an intelligence based surgical action near Karachi's Teen Talwar area. During the operation, Kaleem, a target killer was arrested. Kaleem was allegedly involved in numerous murder cases including that of the PTI leader's.

He has been handed over to the police. Cache of weapons have also been recovered.

Hussain was shot dead outside her house in Defence Housing Authority on May 18, 2013, on the eve of re-polling in the NA-250 constituency.

The killing sparked a wave of political tension as the PTI accused Muttahida Qaumi Movement for the murder.

Hussain's case has been ongoing in an anti-terrorism court. Two suspects involved in the case have been taken into custody while others are still at large.

On 25 February, an anti-terrorism court rejected an application filed by the defence seeking a transfer of Hussain’s murder case to a district and sessions court.

The four absconders implicated in Hussain's murder case were declared proclaimed offenders by an ATC.

The ATC-III declared Junaid Bukhari, Tariq Nawaz, Asif alias Ganja and Irfan alias Lamba proclaimed offenders as the investigation officer of the case submitted a report for proclamation and attachment of property in court.

All should note that @shahid DID NOT LIST his place of residence, his educational achievements, his martial status, his last taxpayer filing, his date of service in the pakistani military, his favorite cricket star, his favorite music video, his favorite TTP commander and his favorite childhood Disney character! As a result, how can any of us TRULY understand the nature of his comments?
Gulwant Singh Bedi | 9 years ago | Reply Sure, picked up somebody, who could not pay ransom to Rangers was tortured, and made to admit anything. Normally you find the body in a ditch. Apparently he looked like a prime candidate to frame.
