No-show: SHC slaps Rs50,000 fine on Imran in MQM defamation suit
MQM had moved defamation suit against Imran after he held Altaf Hussain responsible for Zahra Shahid's murder

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday fined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan Rs50,000 for not appearing before court for the hearing of a Rs5 billion defamation suit moved by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in 2013, Express News reported.
The MQM had moved a defamation suit against Imran after he alleged that Altaf Hussain was responsible for the killing of PTI Sindh senior vice-president Zahra Shahid.
Shahid was shot dead outside her home in Karachi on May 18, 2013, hours before re-elections in some polling stations of NA-250 were due to begin.
She was among PTI’s founding members and was part of the Shaukat Khanum board. Apart from her role in PTI's planning and decision making process, she was also active in campaigning.
