Bright futures: 1,100 graduates awarded degrees by SSUET

As many as 1,100 graduates were awarded degrees at the 18th convocation of Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), held at the Karachi Expo Centre on Saturday.


Wearing black convocation robes with mustard and white frill, the graduates walked away with degrees in electronic, computer, civil, biomedical and telecommunication engineering.


Honouring the academic achievements of students who secured first, second and third positions in their fields, the university awarded them with medals.


SSUET chancellor Muhammad Adil Usman said that the university has produced over 13,000 engineers to date.


University vice-chancellor Prof Dr Syed Jawaid Hasan Rizvi said that SSUET had been making efforts to increase the number of seats in the existing disciplines as well as to introduce new degree programmes. "Last year, we introduced three new programmes - software engineering, bioinformatics and architecture - and this year we are set to induct the first batch for electrical engineering," he revealed.
