The Rangers carried out the raid in a targeted operation early Wednesday morning, with the party claiming that several leaders had been arrested. An MQM worker was shot dead during aerial firing following the raid.
In a statement issued hours after the start of the operation, the MQM’s Raabta Committee said Rangers personnel had forcefully raided and ransacked the MQM’s head office.

When Rangers broke into houses in Layari & arrested suspects MQM didn't oppose. Now why the clamour? Isn't Layari part of Karachi.
— M. Jibran Nasir 🇵🇸 (@MJibranNasir) March 11, 2015
#MQM supports operation in Lyari. Why are they upset about operation at 9-0?
— Ali Haider Zaidi (@AliHZaidiPTI) March 11, 2015
Criminals are criminals irrespective of political affiliation
Why should law be separate for Saulat Mirza. If Law demands action against Mumtaz Qadri then it should treat Mirza the same way.

Faisal Mota, Killer of Wali Babar, found from MQM headquarters ?? No surprise, karachi had its own kind of Taliban here! #karachi

MQM has a lot to answer for, but equating it to violent religious extremists smacks less of analytical error & more of prejudice.
— Mosharraf Zaidi (@mosharrafzaidi) March 11, 2015

Punishing criminals prosecuted & convicted of wrongdoing different from demonising large, potent & popular political party. Simple enough.
— Mosharraf Zaidi (@mosharrafzaidi) March 11, 2015
Go after criminals & no one will defend them.
— Mosharraf Zaidi (@mosharrafzaidi) March 11, 2015
Go after an ethnic or political group, and many will claim prejudice.
Go after criminals.
.@ramsha_afaq92 No political group tends to be entirely criminalised. Ability to distinguish is vital to understanding & solving Karachi.
— Mosharraf Zaidi (@mosharrafzaidi) March 11, 2015

If MQM could explain why Faisal Mota was at Nine Zero, Altaf Hussain would not be up so early to distract party supporters.
— Mosharraf Zaidi (@mosharrafzaidi) March 11, 2015
Wali Babar's murders should be given the death penalty. This country must punish murderers, especially those that kill journalists.
— Mosharraf Zaidi (@mosharrafzaidi) March 11, 2015
So how's @OfficialMqm going to explain what #FaisalMota, convicted to death in Wali Babar murder case, was doing at the party's headquarter?
— Mehreen Zahra-Malik (@mehreenzahra) March 11, 2015

PM Sharif now in Karachi. Will he meet with Raabta Committee members to lay down the law? Or will he let the military keep leading.

#MQM being soft target gets the brunt. The Taliban areas are still no-go for even #Rangers. Would be much better of they focus there.
— Marvi Sirmed (@marvisirmed) March 11, 2015
So now, if Rangers are not becoming part of politics, we would await similar raids on ASWJ and TTP strongholds. Go to Sohrab Goth as well.
— Marvi Sirmed (@marvisirmed) March 11, 2015
Will keep waiting and reminding Rangers of ASWJ LeJ and TTP strongholds in Karachi. Let's see how far these brave officials go to end them.

Parents throng schools to pick their children. #Karachi remains tense after raid at #MQM headquarters.

Most markets closed, traffic thin... #Karachi needs a healing touch.

The law enforcement agencies shd give protection to schools/businesses from armed goons & make sure they remain open.

KHI SHOULD NOR SUFFER
Businessmen & traders of Karachi do not get threatened by any mafia or group. Stand up for your rights. Do not close down your businesses.

Why should anyone shutdown their work. Why hurt economy of 20 million. #LetKarachiLive

About time UK govt took notice of what UK citizen AH keeps in his "house" in Pak. Such an arms cache surely punishable under UK law also?

Criminals & illegal ammunitions found in MQM 90 during rangers operation is alarming. Political parties involved in militancy must be banned

Major operations to "clean up" Karachi?
— Mosharraf Zaidi (@mosharrafzaidi) March 11, 2015
1988. 1992. 1997.
MQM keeps returning to power at local, provincial & federal levels.
Why?

Today's operation at 90 must be handled sensitively by Sindh & Fed Govt. Don't let this become a reason for further political turmoil.
— M. Jibran Nasir 🇵🇸 (@MJibranNasir) March 11, 2015

Does anyone do subtitles for these telephonic sermons? A city on a knife's edge and this guy won't clear his throat.
