LAHORE: Justice Chaudhry Iqbal of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday stopped the Irrigation Department from selling its rest houses in Faisalabad, Nankana and Hafizabad. Advocate Mian Aslam, counsel for the petitioner, told the court the rest houses had been built during the British rule. He said that under political pressure some officers of the department wanted to sell the properties. The lawyer said they were also not fulfilling the mandatory legal procedures for the purpose. He requested the court to prevent the department from selling the rest houses. The court adjourned the hearing until March 16 after counsel for the government sought time to submit a reply. The court reissued a notice to the irrigation secretary ordering him to submit his reply.
