Karachi shootout: DI Khan jail fugitive killed in encounter

KARACHI:
An absconder of infamous DI Khan jailbreak incident was killed along with his comrade during an alleged encounter on Saturday. SP Malir Rao Anwar along with his team conducted a raid at KDA Road near New Sabzi Mandi area, an outskirt of the city inhabited by people from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, tribal areas and Afghanistan. SP Anwar has killed several people allegedly belonging to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and al Qaida. It is worth noting that all these encounters took place in the same area of New Sabzi Mandi. “They were associated with TTP Charsadda area and identified as Shehzad and Ustaad TT,” said SP Anwar. He told that, acting on a tip-off, police raided the hideout of the suspects. “However, the militants opened fire,” he said. The police returned fire killing two militants on the spot, while two managed to flee. The slain militants were wanted in several cases in Charsadda and Karachi.
