
Russian tourists in the area allegedly shot the porn video nine months ago and uploaded it on the internet. The video was accompanied with English subtitles.
Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh al Demati on Thursday responded to the video and said that the filming was conducted illegally by a woman. He added in an official statement that the issue had been referred to the public prosecutor.

The official also stated that new surveillance cameras were to be installed in the area in an attempt to revamp the famous tourism spot after an Egyptian lawyer filed a legal complaint against the senior police chief's office and accused them of facilitating the filming of pornographic material.
Local newspaper al Masry al Youm reported that the coordinator of the Popular Front to Defend Antiquities in Egypt, Osama Karar, said that the movie included a shot of a tour guide and the name of an Egyptian tour company.

“The film was shot in broad daylight and with the knowledge of the officials in charge of the area,” Karara said in televised remarks.
Egypt's tourism sector is one of its key sources of income but has been hard hit by recent years of unrest since the 2011 uprising against former President Hosni Mubarak.
