KARACHI: DG Rangers Sindh has expressed concern over interference by 'certain elements' in the investigation of Baldia Town factory fire incident, Express News reported on Tuesday.

According to the Rangers spokesperson, a meeting at the Rangers Headquarters in Karachi, with DG Rangers in chair is under way, during which threats to victims’ families and the investigation officer of the case came under discussion.

The Rangers chief ordered the arrest of those involved in the fire incident, as well as of their sympathisers.

He also asked law enforcers to speed-up the ongoing operation against criminal elements in the city.

Earlier on February 6, Rangers placed the blame of the Baldia factory fire on the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in a report submitted to the Sindh High Court.

They claimed that some members of the party were linked to the deadly fire, which left more than 259 men and women dead on September 11, 2012.

Moreover, on March 1, a district and sessions court had issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) of arrest for Rizwan Qureshi, who revealed alleged political involvement in the Baldia factory fire tragedy, in a number of cases of targeted killings and possession of illicit weapons.
