Minor girl sexually assaulted in Nowshera
A 65-year-old man allegedly takes her to his guest house, rapes her
NOWSHERA:
An eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted allegedly by a 65-year-old man in the Akora Khattak area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the victim’s mother, the minor girl, S*, was playing outside her residence when a man named Muhammad Arshad allegedly took her to his guest house and raped her. The mother said she learnt about the incident only after her daughter returned home.
On the complaint of the victim’s family, police raided the guest house and took the suspect into their custody. “Arshad confessed to the crime while in police custody, but later retracted his statement before a local court,” said a police official, Hidyatullah, adding that the court has sent him to jail.
“Further investigations into the incident are under way,” a police official said. A week ago, a three-year old boy was also sexually assaulted in Sokari Hafizan area of Bannu Cantonment. The boy was kidnapped while he was playing with other kids. (*NAMES CHANGED TO PROTECT IDENTITY)
