Rescue teams and ambulances reached the scene shortly after and tried to control the fire. No casualties have been reported so far.

However, the fire brigade could not make it to the scene on time due to the tight security and traffic caused by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's visit to Karachi.

Many homes in the slum were destroyed and two children have reportedly gone missing during the fire.

Earlier on Monday, more than 100 shops at the Lunda Bazaar in Lala Musa in Gujrat burned down after a shop selling second-hand clothes caught fire.

Rescue-1122 teams and a fire brigade arrived at the scene and put out the fire, however, inventory of more than a hundred shops selling second-hand clothes were reduced to ashes
