Man accused of threatening female polio workers arrested in Karachi

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway

KARACHI: Police claimed to have apprehended a man suspected of trying to abduct and threaten female health workers in the city on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Nazeer, and was apprehended on the complaint of a female polio worker, Naseeba in the Ahsanabad area of Sohrab Goth.

Ahsanabad police officer Mairaj Anwar said that the accused tried to kidnap female polio workers, Naseeba and Ayesha at gunpoint and also threatened to kill them if they will continue to be a part of the polio campaign.

The officer said the suspect’s companion managed to escape while police were trying to verify their affiliation with a militant outfit.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
