KARACHI: Rangers raided a Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) sector office in Hunaid City, Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi early on Saturday morning and detained several workers.

During the raid, officials cordoned off the area and searched offices of MQM’s provincial and national assembly members.

Earlier in February, Rangers claimed they had arrested a senior MQM worker who was allegedly involved in the May 12, 2007, carnage in an operation carried out in Mehmoodabad area of the city.

MQM officials claim that after January 16, there has been a marked increase in raids and arrests of their party workers, saying those conspiring against the party will not succeed.
