For the sake of peace: 100 new members inducted in the Youth Parliament

The total number of members reaches 3,000 in Sindh

KARACHI: At a time when the country seems to be crippled with the effects of terrorism and deteriorating law and order situation, the Youth Parliament took upon itself to offer a ray of hope.

An event, titled ‘Youth Peace Convention’, was organised by the parliament in collaboration with the Sindh sports and youth affairs department at the Finance and Trade Centre on Thursday. As many as 100 new members were inducted into the Youth Parliament at the oath-taking ceremony, bringing the total number of members in Sindh to 3,000.

The Youth Parliament aims to provide a platform to bring together youth. The peace convention was organised to induct young members in the parliament in order to make them peaceful citizens who abide by the Constitution.

The students were selected for membership based on merit. They were called to the Youth Parliament office a week ago and, only those who went successfully through the interviews, were invited to the oath-taking ceremony.

Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro and Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmaker Farooq Sattar also took the oath at the event. “Proper distribution of wealth is the key to fighting hatred and terrorism,” said philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, the chief guest at the ceremony.

Congratulating the new members, Youth Parliament founder and chairperson Rizwan Jaffar urged them to stand by the people who respect the Constitution of Pakistan.
