Cantonment police claim to have arrested a notorious militant at a check post in Kohat district on Friday, recovering explosives and grenades from his possession.
According to a police official, they were checking vehicles passing through Shaheen check post in Cantonment and signalled a van to stop. He added during the search, the militant lobbed a grenade at them and fled. There were no casualties because the grenade failed to explode.
Policeman further said they chased the man and managed to apprehend him. Two grenades and other explosive material were seized from the suspect. He is a resident of Darra Adam Khel and has links with a banned militant outfit, said the police. The suspected militant has been shifted to an undisclosed location, they added.
