PESHAWAR: A large crowd of former prison guards protested on Tuesday against the recruitment cancellation outside the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly building in Peshawar, Express News reported.

The K-P government had revoked the recent recruitment of prison guards across the province. A notification issued by the Home and Tribal Affairs department on February 16 stated the recruitment of almost 800 warders was revoked over irregularities.

In order to clear Khyber road, Peshawar police baton-charged the protesters and dispersed them.

“Police was ordered by officials to clear the road and we had no option but to baton-charge the protesters," a police official said.

The furious guards chanted “go Imran go” and “go Khatak go” slogans during the protest that was held.
