LHC hears: Senate nomination papers ‘outdated’

He petitioner asked the court to stay the election process till correction in the nomination papers.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday sought reply from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on a petition against use of ‘outdated’ nomination papers for Senate election. Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah also directed a deputy attorney general to submit a copy of the nomination papers being used in the election to be held in March. Advocate Shahid Pervez Jami filed the petition and stated that the government made amendments in the nomination papers for the elections of national and provincial assemblies, however, “the election of senate was being held on the out-dated papers.” He petitioner asked the court to stay the election process till correction in the nomination papers. Justice Shah did not stay the process, however, directed the law officer to ensure reply of the ECP on Tuesday (today).
