Combating terrorism: Religious leader calls for joint efforts

He said the PUC supported the National Action Plan

KARACHI: Each individual along with all parties and groups should exhibit strong determination against terrorism and extremism as these menaces have endangered all segments, said the chairperson of the Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi at a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Saturday. Talking about the Peshawar and Shikarpur tragedies, the religious leader called upon all Pakistanis to play their due role in the elimination of bloodshed. He said the PUC supported the National Action Plan and the introduction of military courts. According to Ashrafi, madrassas have cooperated with the government in eliminating terrorism in the past and will continue to do so. He expressed hope that the Reconciliation Council will play an effective role against terrorism in 2015.
