MANSEHRA: The bullet-riddled bodies of a man and his stepdaughter were found Saturday evening in the remote village of Lassan Nawab Sahib, said law-enforcement officials.

The family of the deceased was mystified, saying they had no personal enmity, added officials. Police said the bodies were found a short distance away from their station on Jhokan Road. They added both victims had been shot twice in the head and their bodies later dumped by the roadside.

The two were later identified Inamullah, 21, and Sidra Bibi 20.

Police quoted family sources as saying Inam’s elder brother Aslam Khan passed away four years ago and the former married the latter’s widow. Thus, Sidra who was Inam’s niece also became his stepdaughter.

Police added Inam and his wife arranged Sidra’s marriage with a boy from the same locality. However, a day before the wedding, both victims went missing and their bodies were found on Saturday evening. A case was registered against unidentified assailants.
