Bomb hoax: Caller held

Further investigation is underway

ISLAMABAD: The police claimed on Friday to have arrested a man who had threatened to bomb Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) a couple of days ago. The suspect, Babar Shah, 22, a mechanic by profession, was arrested from Attock, the police said. During the initial investigations, it was revealed that the suspect was a seminary student. Further investigation is underway, said a police official. Earlier, a security officer of the AIOU had gone to the police to report that an unidentified man called him and threatened to bomb the university. Following the threat, the police and the bomb disposal squad scoured the university and declared it clear. A case had been registered at the Industrial Area Police Station.
