MUMBAI: Mahira Khan's much-talked about project Raees, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is finally on the floors and is being shot in Mumbai, Bollywood website Koimoi.com reported on Thursday.

It is believed that the film is set in the 1980s era and its sets are being constructed at 'film city'. The sets are a replica of the older structures of Ahmadabad.

Director Rahul Dholakia was keen on recreating old Havelis from the town with intricate wooden designs.

Also, considering that there are some crucial action scenes to be shot, a set is much better than the real location.

Shah Rukh will be playing the role of a gangster in the film, whereas Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a cop.

Mahira Khan will take the mantle as the female lead, making the film appealing to both Pakistani and Indian audience.

Earlier, it was reported that the shooting for Raees was scheduled to begin sometime in March.
