The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) may be directed to cut power supply to several provincial institutions of K-P which have failed to pay their bills for some months, an official said.
State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali is to visit Pesco headquarters on Thursday (today) to discuss load-shedding, recovery of dues, defaulters, outstanding liabilities and power theft with the management. He could direct authorities to cut off power supply to those departments with outstanding dues, the Pesco official stated.
“We have repeatedly issued notices to government departments, but have not received a single rupee,” he said. The official added power supply to these institutions has also been disconnected for a short period as a show of intent. “However, nobody has been moved,” he said.
“Pesco is also a government body and comes under pressure from authorities when power supply is cut off to street lights and tube wells,” he said.
