HARIPUR:

Police have registered criminal cases against 36 Afghan refugees for having fake Pakistani identity cards.

Some of them have also purchased land in different parts of Haripur district. Cases were registered on the instructions of IGP Nasir Khan Durrani following a report of NADRA, said the police.

After the approval of the national action plan and the decision to send back Afghan refugees residing in K-P illegally, NADRA verified identity cards during which 36 were found to be illegally issued to refugees living in Pandak, Railway Station, Khalabat Township, Panian and other areas.

These refugees allegedly obtained the identity cards with the help of some NADRA officials and are doing businesses.

Some have even purchased land and are settled abroad.
