Deadly interruption: 22 injured as roof collapses during milad gathering

As many as 22 people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed during a milad on Sunday.


Rescue 1122 officials said nearly 30 women and children had gathered at the house for the event. He said the ladies gathered on the roof of the house when power went out.

They said some children were playing on the roof when it collapsed.

Rescue 1122 officials said they had pulled out 18 women and four children and taken them to a hospital in Sultanpur.

Doctors at the hospital said three of them were in a critical condition because they had received injuries to the head. They said they would be referred to Nishtar Hospital in Multan and Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur once their condition stabilised. Witnesses said they had decided to take the meeting to the roof because the weather had turned pleasant and it had gotten dark. They said the roof was in a bad condition.
